Can I write off my digital camera?

Okay guys, I'm buying a Flip Cam (the amazingly cute pink one which is only $109 on Amazon right now) to make videos for my main social media business and to take stills and videos for my various blogs. But, naturally, I'll probably be taking regular old touristy/family memory type pictures with it, too. Can I write this off as a business expense?

Yes you can write off a new Flip Cam if it's PRIMARY purpose is for business use. Significant personal use could require you to allocate between business and personal, but Incidental use for personal reasons does not prevent the write off.

Thanks, Wray. It's primarily for business use because basically all I do is work. ;) Otherwise, does it work like a phone? You calculate the percentage for business/personal use?

I put my camera on the books. I use it for taking pictures of my products to post on my website and internet shop, and I am collecting photos to turn into cross stitch patterns, cards, pictures etc. I use it for non work stuff too.

Even if we are doing a family activity and I have the camera with me, I will always take photos to use for business purposes as well as the family ones.

Its easy to track as each photo is automatically numbered.
