I'm actually a bookkeeper/accountant in NC. I'm assuming you filed for a Business registration certificate and obtained your sales tax number? If not you can go directly to the Dept of revenue of NC website and complete it there (NC-BR).
2. If your sales tax is between 100-10,000 you probably have to file every month. Less than $100 you can file every quarter.
3. You remit payment via form E-500 and the E536 for county(just like the posting on Outright mentioned some NC counties have different sales tax rates) You can remit payments directly on line including the form.
I would suggest though talking to your accountant regarding your specific situation as there are a variety of forms and potentially additional requirements depending on your business. But the points made above are intended to provide general information and education on the topic.

Thank you so much! That is a great place to begin. I have only had a 'hobby business' until now, but want to go bigger and wasn't sure how to proceed. This is a great beginning!

I'm not the financial professional to provide the specifics but this might help. We have an extensive library of guidelines and direction that I'm troubled didn't present this to you when you posted your question. Here are North Carolina sales tax rates and obligations.
Might not be exactly what you need but I hope it helps. Let me know if you did see that just in case we have a bug. Like I said, it should have been presented to you when you entered your question.
